How it all started:

It all started one day when i was sitting in my car on a lunch break back in 2010 working at a Chicken Barn cleaning company.It was hard work, 12 hour shifts and coming home smelling like, well you know. I learned many life responsibilities at this job, how to work hard, persistence and to never give up no matter how tired you may feel. I was pondering my life and how to make the world a better place, I started to research UFV classes and found Architectural Drafting Technician course. I immediately signed up and dove feet first into the unknown world of Architecture. Fast forward 3 months and I am up to my neck in homework and late nights but I truly loved every minute of it! Not only did I learn about Architectural design but was inspired by the most famous Architecturally ambiguous structures including The Leaning Tower of Pisa, St Paul’s Cathedral and The Pantheon in Rome.

After graduation I found myself looking for a job in small drafting firms around Fraser Valley, BC. Surprisingly enough no one wanted to hire an employee with no experience! (This is an item you do not learn in school) I took matters into my own hands and got a job at a local construction company and made a deal with the manager that for smaller contracts he received he would let me design and build them with one of his best carpenters to guide me. Through this i learned an immense deal of learning about carpentry and the art of wood craft.

I had a vision one night about starting my very own design company to call my own. Ive always wanted to create, own and design structures that would leave a mark in this world. So I started Farrell Fineline Design in 2011.

I soon realized i had a problem! I knew about Architecture and Carpentry but did not now all the Municipal and BC Building code regulations to get a set of working drawings approved by a governing body. Plans were set in motion to get a new job that would further my dream.

I then got a job at City of Abbotsford as a Plan checker 1 position. After a couple years my working knowledge of BC Building Code and Zoning bylaw regulations skyrocketed. I became a master of code! :)

I soon saw the problem most clients were having when talking at the Building permits counter. The client was always seeking out a low cost designer to draft up plans for building permit, but the problem was is that most designers do not have the experience of BC Building code to get plans approved. Most plans i was checking on the daily, were to say the least, dreadful. I immediately set out to market my company and truly help this situation in which would help out the Municipality’s and tax payers to become a Design firm which can produce a set of plans which was Architectural appealing, work for construction methods, BC Building Code and Zoning Bylaw regulations. These full proof plans will save time and money during construction and less wasted time being held up in the permit stage.

Since then it has been a gradual climb of building client relations and always improving to capturing the vision of the client to produce the best set of working drawings at an ideal cost.
